Stephen Kalyn Movies: Everything Fans Are Searching For Right Now

There’s a decent chance you clicked on this because you just finished an episode of Off Campus and typed “who plays Dean” into Google at 1am. Fair enough. Stephen Kalyn Movies wasn’t exactly a household name before this year, but he’s been putting in the work since 2020, and the receipts are all there if you go looking.

First, the basics age and height

Let’s get the two questions everyone actually wants answered out of the way.

Stephen Kalyn was born April 24, 1998, in Toronto. Do the math and that puts him at 28 right now. Taurus, if that matters to you.

As for height he’s 6’2″ (about 1.87m). This isn’t a guess pulled from some sketchy fan wiki either; Kalyn confirmed it himself when a fan got into a comment-section argument defending him against a “he’s not actually that tall” claim on BookTok. He settled it. 6’2″ it is. On the Off Campus set that makes him one of the taller cast members, several inches above Mika Abdalla, who plays Allie.

Before the fame: how he actually got here

Kalyn grew up in Toronto and, like a lot of Canadian kids, hockey was practically mandatory. He played competitively up through the AA level. Acting wasn’t the plan until a high school production of Grease changed things, apparently. After that he enrolled in a two-year filmmaking program at Hobart College instead of going the usual drama-school route, then pivoted into acting properly.

That hockey background ended up mattering more than anyone could have predicted. Years later, when he landed a role in a show built around college hockey, he was reportedly the only lead who didn’t need a stunt double or a crash course to look convincing on skates.

    The Stephen Kalyn Movies

His first credit on record goes back to 2018 a short called Child 92. Nothing flashy, but everyone starts somewhere.

The film that really put him on the map, at least among people paying attention to Canadian indie cinema, was Cascade (2023). He played Vince, one of a handful of teenagers who stumble onto a crashed drug plane and end up way over their heads. It’s a small movie, but it’s the kind of role that shows an actor can handle tension instead of just charm and honestly, it holds up better than a lot of bigger-budget thrillers from the same year.

That same stretch of his career included Warrior Strong (2023), where he took on the part of Gunnar. Not a title most people outside Canada have heard of, but indie sets like this tend to be where actors actually figure out their craft, away from network notes and studio pressure.

He also popped up in the TV movie The Perfect Wedding (2021), and more recently in Whistle (2025), a horror film alongside Dafne Keen and Sophie Nélisse. Whistle is worth mentioning because it’s a genre swing drama and thriller work is one thing, but horror is a different muscle entirely, and it suggests he’s not trying to get typecast this early.

    TV work the slow build

His screen debut, technically, was television: a single episode of Transplant in 2020, playing a character named Brett. Small part, but it got his foot in the door.

From there he landed a recurring spot on Essex County, a CBC miniseries, playing a younger version of a character called Lou. That role actually earned him a Canadian Screen Award nomination as part of the ensemble which, for an actor with barely three years of credits at that point, is not nothing.

After that things picked up pace: an episode of Murdoch Mysteries, a role in Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent, and a part as Carl in Paying for It (2024), directed by Sook-Yin Lee. He also showed up in Motorheads (2025), playing a younger version of Ryan Phillippe’s character.

Then came two roles that pushed him past “recognizable Canadian actor” into something bigger. He joined Gen V Season 2 as Greg, a God U student who ends up as Emma’s love interest a part he got after originally reading for Golden Boy, which went to Patrick Schwarzenegger instead. Around the same time, he guest starred in Amazon’s Cruel Intentions reboot as Rourke.

    Off Campus changed everything

None of that quite prepared people for Off Campus. Kalyn plays Dean Di Laurentis in Prime Video’s adaptation of Elle Kennedy’s college hockey romance novels, and the show landed hard it premiered May 13, 2026, and pulled in something like 36 million global viewers in under two weeks. Amazon renewed it for a second season before the first one had even aired.

There’s a small, fun detail behind the casting: Kalyn almost skipped the audition entirely. His fiancée, Victoria Lovatsis, had already read the entire book series and reportedly told him flat out there was no other option he had to go for Dean. Season 2 started filming in Vancouver in June 2026, with Kalyn back as one of the leads.

And since people keep asking Ella Bright

    Ella Bright

Because the two share the screen so often, searches for Stephen Kalyn tend to pull up Ella Bright too. She plays Hannah Wells, the female lead, and was 19 when the show premiered she was born November 27, 2006, which puts nine years between her and Kalyn. Bright’s British-American, previously known for Malory Towers and a guest role in The Crown, and stands around 5’5″.

    Bottom line

Stephen Kalyn Movies career didn’t happen overnight, even though it might look that way to anyone who just discovered him through Off Campus. Six years of steady work indie thrillers, a horror movie, Canadian procedurals, a superhero spinoff got him to this point. At 28, with Season 2 already filming, it’s probably safe to say this is just the start.
